What Can Invisalign Address?

Depending on the complexity of your case, Invisalign may help improve:

• Crowded or overlapping teeth
• Spaces between teeth
• Mildly rotated teeth
• Certain overbite, underbite or crossbite concerns
• Teeth that have shifted after previous orthodontic treatment

Not every alignment or bite concern can be treated predictably with clear aligners.

Your Invisalign Assessment and Digital Plan

Your dentist will examine your teeth, gums, jaw and bite. Records may include photographs, dental X-rays and a digital scan. They help develop a personalized treatment plan and estimate the treatment time.

If treatment is suitable, a series of aligners will be created for you. Tooth-coloured attachments or elastics may sometimes be recommended to support movements.

Living with Clear Aligners

Aligners must be worn for the time prescribed by your dentist and changed according to your schedule. Remove them when eating or drinking anything other than water. Clean your teeth before replacing them and follow the instructions for cleaning and storing your aligners.

Monitoring appointments allow your dentist to evaluate progress and make changes when necessary. Temporary pressure or tenderness may occur when beginning a new set. A retainer is generally required after treatment to help maintain the final tooth positions.

Is Invisalign suitable for everyone?

No. Suitability depends on your alignment, bite, oral health, age and ability to follow the wear schedule.

What if my case is complicated?

Cases requiring advanced orthodontic management or possible jaw surgery will be referred to an orthodontist for further assessment.
